From humble beginnings along sleepy Buffalo Bayou, Houston has evolved into the largest port in America and one of the leading ports in the world, an essential part of Houston, with which may remain surprisingly unfamiliar.
Accordingly, we are delighted to enlist in the exciting evolution of what is now called the Houston Maritime Education Center and Museum, or Houston Maritime for short. Houston Maritime continues on its multi-phase expedition from an interim Port of Call at the intersection of Navigation Boulevard and Canal Street to a new state-of-the-art museum and maritime education center is completed nearby on the banks of Buffalo Bayou, fulfilling our founder’s dream of a bayou-side location and increasing museum visibility to Houstonians.
With this move, Houston Maritime continues to develop into an integral city resource: an educational and cultural institution celebrating not only the maritime history and industry but also Houston’s role as a leader in the maritime world.
With COVID-19 postponing voyages for many people, we are hosing a maritime-themed gala with safety and comfort in mind. We invite you to join us on our journey entitled?Set Sail with Houston Maritime?in one of several ways:
Funds raised will directly benefit Houston Maritime’s current operations including educational programming, monthly lectures, expanding membership and public engagement, and developing an enchanted master plan for collections and exhibits.
We hope that you will come aboard as an underwriter for this valuable Houston treasure. As we embark on this remarkable expedition, we look forward to welcoming you as we?Set Sail with Houston Maritime!
