Welcome Aboard!

Hello friends-

Houston Maritime Center & Museum eagerly anticipates its grand reopening in Houston’s East
River Development next fall. Perched on the banks of Buffalo Bayou, this new space will enjoy
not only the close proximity of downtown Houston, but also the increased visibility and traffic
of its prime location in this master-planned mixed-use development. This 150-acre tract along
Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s new Hike and Bike Trail extension from downtown features
everything from residences, shops, and restaurants to offices. Set in the heart of the Greater
East End juxtaposed with downtown Houston and easy access, the new location will make a
tremendous positive impact on Houston Maritime Center & Museum’s visitor traffic and
outreach.

This new space presents history, arts, culture, and sciences through a maritime lens. Our
collection navigates a voyage through the nautical world with extensive exhibits, models, and
artifacts, emphasizing interactive experiences bringing the collection to life. Maritime artifacts,
ship models, art, photography, and printed materials will be thoughtfully disseminated through
zones translating maritime history from the very earliest maritime pioneers to modern day
science and technology.

HMC&M is hard at work on this process in an “all hands on deck” approach. Specifically, we wish
to thank all our donors, corporate members, volunteers, board members, and special friends
who have supported us so diligently to make this exceptional possibility a reality.

We can’t wait to show you our new home, so stay tuned for further updates. If you haven’t had
a chance to join us yet as a Member, please do so by clicking the Membership tab on our home
page or below to see the wide range of possibilities. Houston Maritime Center & Museum
membership also confers benefits from other network museums.

Together, it’s full steam ahead at Houston Maritime Center & Museum. We look forward to
seeing you soon!

With sincere appreciation,
